The HRD Group provides customised management training, management development, management qualifications (accredited by The ILM), personal skills training and HRD consultancy services, i.e. a complete one stop supplier of customised HR Development and HR Management services.
To achieve this I have collected together the very best trainers, consultants, support systems and specialist allies that the UK has to offer, and we are continuing to grow - but it wasn't always like what you see today. To build the company whilst vision, linked to action, was essential, I also had to overcome personal prejudice.
To understand this needs a journey back in time:
When I was a manager at Plessey in seeking to develop my managers and staff I would send them on training courses, and also engage consultants, but frankly the results were disappointing, because the knowledge imparted did not generate transferable skills.
In 1988 I left Plessey and set up my own HR Development company. Bent upon a personal crusade I developed a Time Management course that was both philosophical, in regard to management, and result orientated in its purpose. From this beginning I became carried away with crusading zeal and after several years of hard work, designing and developing training materials, my company's materials library consisted of circa 40 skills based courses to provide customers with customised management development programmes. I then needed a further HR Development challenge.
One day a good friend, and customer, sought to introduce my company to the Institute of Leadership & Management, he overcame my reservations about becoming involved with a theoretical world and so my first alliance was formed. Being a result orientated individual I have been delighted with how this alliance has turned out.
With the fall of this barrier, other HR Development barriers I had regarding action centred learning, consultants and psychometric tests were also to fall as I found that to be effective, in Organisational Development and HR Development, required the utilisation of different HRD processes, HRD systems and HRD experts. Consequently these past few years I have actively sought out the best specialist people I could find, people who, like me, wish only to work vigorously in the pursuit of excellence and customer care.
