This writing skills course is one of a suite of supervisor training events to provide participants with a toolbox of personal communication skills.
Our writing skills training courses can be delivered as stand alone one or two day module or integrated into a comprehensive supervisor training communication skills programme to take advantage of synergy.

Programme Introduction
NB: Selected subjects will be presented in a way that meets the writing skills needs and supervisor training needs of the participants for their functional role and level within the organisation.
This two day supervisor training course on writing skills starts by reviewing the purpose of writing and how to present information in an objective, clear and concise manner. Report structure, quality of language and presentation style represent key course topics and are therefore reviewed in depth.
The writing skills module continues with an analysis of how to plan and prepare reports using collecting and formatting techniques like brain storming, mind mapping, column and horizontal planning. Participants planning skill will be tested by a syndicate based approach to prepare and subsequently present a study involving these techniques. Participants are then invited to produce a short report on each syndicate presentation. This report will be circulated for assessment and critical feedback on the author's writing skills.
These studies will also enable the Supervisor Training Course tutor to get a writing skills measure, in addition to enhancing participants awareness and laying a foundation for a review of writing skills covering the basic requirements and principles of good effective writing.
To improve awareness of the use of "Business" English a series of short writing skills exercises are included. These consider aspects of basic report structures and presentation covering ambiguity, abstract conversion, format, simplification and word meaning. Improvement in the use of business English, grammar and punctuation will be realised when participants are required to review and revise poorly written letters, before producing letters from information supplied. These will also be circulated to their peers for assessment and critical feedback on the author's writing skills.
This Supervisor Training Course concludes with syndicate teams producing a report on a current work based topic. Again these reports will be appraised and marked by peer groups.
NB: A number of reports, and documents, using different styles and produced using different software will be ondisplay during the writing skills course
